In Kashmir/India, Martin Kessler in his function for doctors without borders from the global Win network developed a waste treatment strategy for medical waste generated in rural clinics. In a small border town a pilot waste treatment plant including medical waste incinerator was built.

Assesments were done in several bigger hospitals of the Kashmir district.
